Professional Experience

His extensive experience as a mental health professional includes working with people with severe mood or thought disorders and providing meaningful support and education to their loved ones. Derrick has helped many individuals and families learn to cope with and overcome depression, anxiety, substance abuse, trauma, relationship friction, sleep disturbance, communication problems, emotional reactivity, midlife crises, existential dread, and dozens of other issues.

Approach as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

Derrick tries his best to be an open book to his clients. That is why he will gladly answer any questions about him, his practice, or his accreditation. He even offers to get acquainted with a potential new client even before a face-to-face meeting through a free 30-minute consultation so they can figure out if they are a good fit for one another.

Crystal Ramirez, PhD, LMFT: Clinical Director

Dr. Ramirez’s philosophy is grounded in reverence, authenticity, and co-created healing. Her doctoral research explored the lived experiences of people with psychotic disorders in public mental health systems, work she has presented both nationally and internationally. This commitment to deep listening and respect for each person’s full humanity continues to shape her practice today. She believes therapy is a safe place to tend honestly to one’s feelings and needs, integrate mind, body, and spirit, and uncover meaning even in life’s most overwhelming moments.

Professional Experience

Dr. Crystal Ramirez is a psychotherapist with nearly 20 years of professional experience helping children, adults, couples, and families navigate life’s challenges and transitions. Her training and work span a variety of roles including therapist, clinical supervisor, manager, director, and graduate school professor.

Her clinical approach is holistic, trauma-informed, and deeply personalized. Drawing from somatic therapy, depth psychology, mindfulness, expressive arts, DBT, EMDR, neurorelational play therapy, and psychodynamic traditions, she integrates evidence-based practices with imaginal, psychospiritual, and relational perspectives. Each therapy plan is customized to meet her clients’ unique needs and goals, whether the focus is on day-to-day problem solving, healing from the past, or creating a more authentic and intentional life.
